It's bananas, I tell you!

Details
This meeting will be the first of a series of meetups where we discuss scientific articles. The idea is to go through the article, and moderate a discussion based on its central ideas, points, innovations (if any), and possible applications.
During this meetup, we will discuss the following article: Meijer, Erik et al. “Functional Programming with Bananas, Lenses, Envelopes and Barbed Wire.” FPCA (1991). 1 The paper will be presented by Radu Ometita, a passionate researcher on blockchain technologies, formal methods and programming languages.
We will focus on helping you gain an understanding of the context of the paper, and what makes it interesting, without going into the very technical details, but following a practical (there will be some code) approach to the subject.
