Clean Air in Cluj: From monitoring pollution to changing behavior

Air pollution is a major health concern in the world today, and our city, situated in a valley, and boasting around 200,000 vehicles, many with old engines, is no exception.

Measuring the quality of the air we breathe, using high precision stations as well as home made low cost sensors, and communicating the meaning of this data to residents, is the first step in 'Clean Air Cluj' project, aiming at improving air quality by nudging people to opt for clean transport alternatives.

In this talk we will learn about the challenges of tackling environmental issues and changing behaviors, and watch a demonstration of an air quality sensor box and the data collection and analysis process.
