East Bayside Block Party (Cider Pressing, Rocket Stoves, Cob, Kraut + More!)

Details

Join The Resilience Hub and our neighbors for a super fun Saturday afternoon! Up and down Anderson and neighboring streets in East Bayside, businesses and organizations will open their doors and offer various activities to visitors. Come on down and check it out!

Here is the facebook page for the event (https://www.facebook.com/events/714488275255107/) but here is what we have planned for The Resilience Hub:

Permablitz in the morning (RSVP separately) (https://www.meetup.com/portlandpermaculture/events/210300512/)

12:00 - 1:30 - Seasonal Food Swap and Trading Post

Swap til you drop! Bring food items, garden surplus, canned goods, fermented goodies and more (plus crafts, books or any other items to swap). No cash changes hands.

1:00 - Cooperative Kraut Mob with Jonah

A mob of us will spontaneously make kraut! Oh yes.

2:00 to whenever - Mini Cob House Building with Rachel Lyn

Yes, we will build a mini cob house. You know you want to! Prepare to get dirty.

Ongoing:

Bring Apples! The Maine Tool Library team will be on hand to talk about the tool library and we will have cider pressing gear on hand! Bring your picked and foraged apples for a Community Juice Pressing with Bicycle-Powered Apple Grinder! (Bring a mug too!)

We will be running a Rocket Stove Dosa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dosa) Station (fermented rice/lentil goodness). Bring relishes, ferments and other sauces or dips to compliment.

The Portland Food Coop will be joining us to spread the good cheer of the imminent opening of our very own community-owned market coming in just a few weeks!

The Machigonne Community Land Trust will be with us and, if that weren't enough, we'll be cooking with solar ovens, weather permitting!

IMPORTANT: PARKING

You may want to park on Marginal Way or one of the streets that connects Marginal to Anderson. Most of the streets will be blocked off from about The Resilience Hub up to Fox Street. A bit of the north end of Anderson will be open if you need to get close with some apples or swap items.
