Work Party w/ Cultivating Community @ Boyd St Community Garden

Details

Our first summer work party is kicking off with Cultivating Community at the Boyd Street Community Garden! The Boyd Street Garden is an AMAZING space featuring personal and communal garden beds, public-pick fruit trees, a demonstration garden for students, and more. It provides food for dozens of Portland-area residents and it an incredible example of what community-level food growing projects can look like. We are excited to be back outside, together, getting our hands dirty!

WHEN: Saturday, June 18 9AM-3:30PM
(Lunch Break at 12:30PM)

WHERE: Boyd St. Community Garden, Portland

WHO: Hosted in collaboration between Resilience Hub and Cultivating Community, attendance is open to all in the community!

WHAT TO BRING: Please dress for the weather (ideally in layers) and bring drinking water, snacks/bag lunch and sunscreen as needed. Work gloves and garden tools are handy if you have them!

WORK PARTY PROJECTS:

  • Frame out existing raised beds
  • Lasagna layering in new raised bed plots
  • Sheet mulch & woodchip orchard
  • New & improved signage
  • Moving/fixing compost bins
  • Re-establish terraced side of garden
  • Fruit tree training
  • Fixing raspberry trellis

** Our big projects for the day are bolded above, but there are other smaller projects we may tackle if we have enough people power! **

See you there, neighbors!
