The group began eleven months ago in response to the frustrations and anger raised by the Trump presidency and administration and the Republican/Conservative Congress. The group is organized with volunteers who coordinate sign making for demonstrations, a press person who handles news releases, a photographer, writers who have developed a library of letters on various subjects that can be accessed by anyone wanting to write a letter to an editor of a newspaper or an elected official but is inexperienced in letter writing for public consumption, a person who coordinates post card campaigns, an environmental committee, a coordinating committee that organizes the group’s participation in demonstrations and marches, a person who coordinates phone call campaigns on behalf of Democratic candidates in Florida and other states and a person who handles the Facebook page for the group which can be accessed by entering "Democrats for Action" in the search box.
The group is made up of 250 people, many with no previous political experience, who reside in Cascade Lakes and other communities throughout the county. We encourage people who live outside of Cascade Lakes to join the group and consider starting similar grass roots activist groups within their own communities.
