Tesla Takedown - South Austin

Details

Come out, ATX, it's working!

- With ❤️, #ResistAustin

=====

PROTEST:

6/28 happens to be Elon Musk’s birthday! Naturally, we're protesting outside his store in South Austin in a critical moment for our democracy. Expect an opportunity to write a post card to Elon and a special custom piñata! Bring a friend or two or come solo!

=====

RATIONALE FOR PROTEST:

Elon and Tesla are both enablers of Trump's administration. Watch this speech by one of our organizers which explains the overall reasoning for our Tesla protests: https://youtu.be/uy1JZn_DYcA?feature=shared

=====

WHAT TO EXPECT
- A protest emcee or two
- A reasonable size group of people consisting of regulars, semiregulars, and newbies
- Supplies with which to exercise your 1A rights, such as markers and posters
- A focal point, like the Tesla store, where you may verbally and visually direct your grievances
- Music
- Chanting
- (Uncertain) Counterprotestors

=====

COUNTERPROTESTOR GUIDANCE:

"Bullhorn Bully," the serial harasser a.k.a. Will Johnson, most recently visited our protest at Tesla North on 5/24/2025. On that day, he was accompanied by up to 6 members of the WTF biker club, who are documented having aggressively harassed an Austin elected official in 2020, and engaged in an act of attempted intimidation towards ResistAustin earlier this year.

Our guidance is to ignore and/or quietly document Mr. Johnson - he appears to get frustrated and lose focus when no one is engaging with him - he needs protestors to be provoked for his livestream to be entertaining to his audience.

Here are some results of documenting his actions:

To aid in our effort document counterprotestors and harassers like Mr. Johnson, please "extensively document" any suspicious, harassing, or menacing behavior via photo/video and send the recordings with a brief description of your observations to our email inbox, info@resistaustin.us

====

PARKING:

Tesla St. Elmo is at 500 E. St. Elmo Rd as you turn into a restaurant and brewery center called The Yard. You can get to St. Elmo Rd from Congress/275 or the Frontage of I-35-S. You can also get to it from Ben White/71 East Frontage. It is in an industrial park with no street curbs. You might find limited parking along St. Elmo off the side of the road between Willow Springs and Lucksinger Lane. Otherwise, turn down Lucksinger Lane and head to Sheraton Ave. There is parking at Battle Bend Park or on neighborhood streets on Sheraton Ave or Rowland Drive. It is ½ a mile walk from Tesla and should take 12 to 15 minutes to walk there.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Unity and discipline are hallmark principles of successful nonviolent resistance movements and our movement will remain inviting and blameless if we maintain these principles in the face of provocation.
