📍 Location: To be confirmed (Dublin City Centre)
We’re kicking things off with Firewatch, a quiet, emotional, and story-driven game that gives us plenty to talk about.
This first event is where we come together to reflect on it — the narrative, the atmosphere, the themes, the characters, and the choices we made along the way.
If you haven’t joined us before, don’t worry — you’re welcome to jump in. All you need to do is play Firewatch before the event. There’s no pressure to finish it in any particular way or have big “takes” on it — just play, see how it sits with you, and come ready to chat.
This is what The Respawn Room is about: playing games with intention, then coming together to talk about them. One game at a time, one discussion at a time.

In this session, we’ll go beyond just the story. We’ll look at how Firewatch became a cult classic, what made it stand out when it was released, and how it helped shape the narrative indie scene that followed. It’s a short game, but it’s packed with moments that linger — and it’s just as interesting to examine as a novel or a film.
This space is for anyone who cares about storytelling. Whether you’ve played hundreds of games or this is your first one ever, you’re welcome here. Firewatch is beginner-friendly, with simple mechanics and a strong emotional core. You don’t need any gaming experience to enjoy it or to take part in the discussion.
