Meeting #3 - Navigate and develop through tensions
Details
PLEASE NOTE:
- Due to Covid-19 this will be an online event!
Description
The basic driver for navigating and developing organizations decentrally - through the self initiated actions of every employee, every team - is tensions. The basic feeling that something is not in balance, that something is missing, and that things could be better if we achieve this 'something'.
'Tension' is the overarching term we can use for whatever arises in us as a feeling of unease or of excitement - a sense that something is amiss, or a drive towards reaching even higher than we already do. It is the tightening of the belly when someone acts in a way that triggers your old wound, and it is the swelling of the heart when you realize that this new idea growing inside you is urging you to push forward, to aim for goals you didn't dare before.
In the sociocratic methods - Holacracy, S3 and SCM - tensions are explored mainly in each employee's home circle and are always explored on their own terms, as undeveloped and confusing as they are at that very moment. No more, no less. For it is only if we can create a safe and curious common space for every employee to explore her tensions in whatever form they may arise, that we can hope to create organizations able to navigate and develop themselves decentrally through every employee and thus become a Deliberately Developmental Organization (DDL).
Kåre Wangel is working with sociocratic self management as a consultant and trainer, mainly through The Sociocratic Circle Method (SCM).
