Christmas in July: Picnic & Hiking

Details

Since the weather never seems to work out for our annual Jingle Jangle Turtle Hike...we are shaking things up this year and doing a Christmas in July event!

This is a laid-back event where we will gather together, hang out, do adventures as they strike our fancy, and relax. We may sing Christmas carols. We may play Christmassy games. Anything can happen.

Bring a picnic basket for you and anyone you bring with you :-). If you'd like to share something with the group, that's cool, too, but not required.

I'm not familiar with Peace Valley Park, but depending on the number of people, I'll try to reserve a pavilion for us. If not, we will bring blankets and take the old-school route. Keep an eye on this page for announcements!!!

Where are we going?
Peace Valley Park is in Bucks County. They have numerous boat launches. For our New Jersey friends, you will need to register your yaks, as Pennsylvania requires permits. It is also a state law to have a life vest. Check out the park map.

What to Wear:
1. Wear red and green, and dress up in your Christmas finery for the festive holiday!
2. Wear clothing suitable for the activities you plan to do (hiking, yakking, knitting).

What to Bring:
1. Lunch
2. Water
3. Blanket
4. Stuff to do your chosen activities (kayak/paddles, hiking shoes, trekking poles, books, knitting needles)
5. If you play the guitar, banjo, bagpipes (heh), bring them along if you are comfy playing for others.
6. Lawn chair - just in case a blanket doesn't work for you.

What Not To Bring:
1. This is an adult-only human event. Dogs, giraffes, drop bears, other animals, and children should join you at another time to have a day out :-)
2. Alcohol and Drugs - Black Tar Heroin should never be in your pocket, but this park is also alcohol free, and recreational drugs are not legal in PA.

Event Cost
I'm not sure if renting a pavilion incurs any costs, so currently, it's free. If there is a cost, I will split it evenly among the attendees. If it will cost more than $5 pp, we will go back to the blanket route ;p
