What we’re about

Purpose:
Join us for genuine dialogue and deep conversations aimed at exploring complex issues surrounding the good life, a just society, and honest religious inquiry. We seek to move beyond easy answers and pre-packaged ideologies, fostering a space for learning and friendship.

In a free democratic society that is astonishingly wealthy, long-living, comfortable, entertaining, and safe, many of us feel a profound dissatisfaction with our lives and society. Together, we will investigate the roots of this discontent and examine the assumptions that shape our modern experience.

Our discussions will draw on insights from the teachings of Jesus, historical developments, and diverse contemporary societies. Topics will include:

  • Consumerism and the good life
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Community and modernity
  • Health and healthcare institutions
  • Wealth accumulation
  • Loneliness and mass society
  • Learning and educational institutions
  • The history and future of religious belief
  • Subsistence and market societies
  • And much more!

The format will usually involve a short presentation of information, history, quotes, or ideas, followed by questions intended to get the conversation started. We will resist simplistic answers and encourage open-ended inquiry.

Join us as we rethink what it means to live well and to embody a just society.
