Welcome to Cinechats! This is an online film discussion group focusing on classics both old and new. Whether you are looking to talk about your favourite New Hollywood masterpiece, or want to share your thoughts on a modern indie horror film, this group is for you. We are currently just doing online chats, but our ambition as members grow is for meetups in real life - probably starting in the London, UK area in 2026. Also, we are currently hosting discussions in English, but we are happy for events in other languages as soon as we have enough members for that. We really just want to host as many film (and anime/animation/shorts etc!) enthusiasts as possible in our online community and to have different themed groups inside as well. We hope you will join us and make that happen. There is a WhatsApp chat for this group for those who want to get fully involved. Finally, we are actively looking at visiting a Cinema Festival or similar event as soon as we have the numbers and interest.

Basic Rules and Etiquette - okay, some serious stuff just to make sure we have as few mishaps as possible... a) Adults only - this is a group for people who are aged 18 and above. This is due to the adult nature of certain themes. Do not join if you are below this age. b) This won't be a 'safe space' and no trigger warnings should be expected - as film is often a reflection on our society, it naturally explores all aspects of life. It's not going to be possible to have in-depth discussions on film while simultaneously juggling individual sensitivities. You are responsible for deciding what you participate in. c) Keep it civil - this is the most important rule of all. Don't start fights or try to convert others to your worldview. This isn't the place. Bring your enthusiasm, your interests, your passion for film and make new friends!
