Adapted from Nicholas Pileggi's book Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas and detailing the real-life rise and fall of mob-connected casino operators, this is one of Martin Scorsese's most satisfying mafia movies. Set against the backdrop of a booming Las Vegas, the story pivots on the relationship between with main characters Sam "Ace" Rothstein, Nicky Santoro, and Ginger McKenna. Sam is a professional gambler promoted to Casino executive, Nicky is a mafia enforcer who is asked by the mob to watch over Sam and Ginger is the beautiful hustler that Sam falls for. While Sam quickly and efficiently builds up the Tangiers Casino by both fair means and foul, Nicky and Sam become increasingly volatile, progressively undermining the mob empire.
