Excalibur (1981)

A epic telling of the Arthurian legend directed by John Boorman and featuring a host of famous and soon-to-be famous actors from the UK and Ireland. With a powerful soundtrack composed by Trevor Jones as well as music from Wagner and Carl Orff, the film goes way beyond typical swords and sorcery and delves deeply into its folklore roots to deliver a truly mythical experience. A British production filmed in muddy Ireland, the production is interesting to see the break out roles for many actors who went on to become Hollywood stars :-D
