Details

Adapted from Phillip K Dick's short story, "Do androids dream of electric sheep", this is a cult classic sci-fi film directed by Ridley Scott and spawned a sequel many years later (Blade Runner 2049) which will shortly be followed by Blade Runner 2099 the series to be released on Amazon Prime later this year. It features an assemble cast to include Hollywood heavy weights Harrison Ford, the late Rutger Haur and Sean Young.

The story pivots around the central protagonist, Rick Deckard, a former "Blade Runner" cop brought out of retirement to hunt down four replicants who have escaped their inter space labour colony only to land on Earth searching for their 'creator' (Dr |Elvin Tyrell of the Tyrell Corporation) all the while casting doubt as to whether he is a replicant himself.

The film initially opened to harsh critics and a lukewarm reception, so much so that during a test screen audience viewing the studio ultimately changed the ending and added a voice over narration. The director's cut version exists as to how the director initially intended the film upon release.

Please join me for an in-depth discussion on Thursday 26th February 2026 at 8pm wherein we will discuss many aspects of the film to include plot, casting, directing and if not enough time the sequel Blade Runner 2049 and the upcoming amazon series Blade Runner 2099.
