Disney's attempt to cash in on the new Sci-Fi wave of the late 70s! A deep‑space research vessel, the USS Palomino, discovers the long‑lost starship Cygnus hovering at the edge of a massive black hole. Boarding the seemingly deserted craft, the crew encounters Dr. Hans Reinhardt, a brilliant but unhinged scientist who claims he has mastered the physics needed to travel through the singularity.

This film was a strange mash-up of multiple themes that each had a different audience focus, and frankly it didn't quite work. Disney's Black Hole could be probably be thought of as a version of 'Event Horizon' for kids... If that sounds strange, you're getting the idea! Despite those failings it remains a cinematic event for a mix of amazing visuals, dark suspense and great acting from then A-List stars. Even if parts of the film are over-the-top and campy, overall it remains a beloved cult classic.
