Talk 1: Designing Simpler Build Tools with Object Oriented Programming

Description:
The Java language is known to be performant, easy to use, and with great IDE support, but Java build tools like Maven or Gradle do not always live up to that reputation. This talk will explore why build tooling is fundamentally such a difficult domain to work in, and how common concepts from object-oriented programming have the potential to simplify the build tool experience. We will end with a demonstration of an experimental new Java build tool "Mill" that makes use of these ideas, proving out the idea that Java build tooling has the potential to be much faster, safer, and easier than it is today.

React has become the default to build web apps these days. Compatitors like Svelte or Angular while being differnt in the details, take the same high level approach. Send JSON from the bachend to the frontend, keep state in the frontend and render the page while syncing state on interaction. All sprinkled with node modules and all the complexty that comes with it. But is there a diffetnet way? A ways where you keep state in your backend, render in your backend and still be fast powerful and reactive? The answer is Datastar. Join me and widen your horizon on the possibilites how to build a frontend.
