What we’re about
About our local chapter:
We are setting up a local chapter and re-opening some events. Please check back here periodically to see what's new. In the meantime, this group will still list the RfR-wide online events (called "network" events) that you are free to join.
What Recovering from Religion is about:
Doubt your beliefs? Have questions about changing or leaving your faith?
You are not alone, and we are here to help.
The primary focus of Recovering From Religion is to provide ongoing and personal support to individuals as they examine, change, or possibly choose to let go of some of their religious beliefs. We are NOT here to tear down beliefs or tell anyone what to believe, but we ARE here to provide support and healing through what can be a very difficult time. This transitional period is an ongoing process that can result in a range of emotions, as well as a ripple effect of consequences throughout an individual’s life. As such, RfR support group meetings are safe and anonymous places to express these doubts, fears, and experiences without biased feedback or proselytizing.
We are here to help each other through this process.
There is no cost to attend this group but, if you feel so inclined, donations can be made at www.recoveringfromreligion.org/donate
If you find you need to talk with someone before the meeting date, RfR has a hotline and online chat for that express purpose. Call (844) 368-2848 to speak with someone or go to www.recoveringfromreligion.org to chat online.
At RfR we are peer supporters, and not professional therapists. If you find yourself needing additional professional help, we can suggest you also check ou the Secular Therapy Project. This website provides options to connect with a professional therapist who will use evidence-based methods to help their clients (no rosaries or faith healing needed). All therapists have been thoroughly vetted by our organization and offer only evidence-based and non-religious treatment. Many have their own fees, insurance contracts, and some offer therapy on a sliding scale fee. Connect with them at www.seculartherapy.org.

Can't make it to a meeting or want to attend another? We have support groups nearly every day. You do not have to live in a city or state to join a virtual group from other locations. Here is the support group calendar: https://www.recoveringfromreligion.org/sg-calendar
Want to let us know what you thought? Concerns? You can report concerns or feedback anonymously if you choose. Please fill out our feedback form here: https://forms.gle/abxkXCCPCbxjFQuY8
