Posit::conf(2023) live virtual watch event (and drinks after)

Hello all RGlasgow!

Many of you may have been thinking of attending the Posit (formerly RStudio) conference this year but haven't managed to make it to Chicago. Sure we can watch the videos later, but they we'd miss out on the networking, Q&A and banter!

So we thought perhaps it would be an exciting alternative to watch it together! We've signed up for an RGlasgow virtual attendance group pass, have booked a venue and can join in with some of the exciting conference remotely! Posit reps have been excited to let us join in and have sent some swag our way too.

One small drawback is that, of course, the conference will be broadcasting at Chicago time, which is 6 hours behind us. The only slot we'll catch is the 11-12 (5pm-6pm BST) talks before their lunch break/building closure. So we propose meeting to watch from 5-6pm, arriving when you can, then we go to the pub afterwards for RGlasgow catchup.

In coming months we can propose watching some of the wider set of talk recordings from the conference at a more sensible UK time.

We'd love to see you there! The 5-6 slot will be a drop-in-when-you-can then we'll move to a booked table at a nearby pub for the rest of the evening for post-Posit-pints (or non-alcoholic alternatives; or shots) so come when suits. Hoping we can show the Chicago-attendees that there's a spirited Glasgow R community over here too :D.
