Talk: “From Data Scientist to AI Engineer – What has changed? What does it take? A Consulting Implementation Perspective.”The Data Scientist was considered the sexiest job of the 21st century. With the rise of Generative AI, a new role has emerged: the AI Engineer. In many organizations, Data Scientists have taken on the responsibilities associated with this new position. However, the skill sets required for each role are not fully interchangeable. While there is some overlap, the role of an AI Engineer demands additional, distinct competencies.
In this presentation, we will share our observations from an AI implementation consulting perspective. We will walk through our own transition journey and highlight the key differences between the roles of Data Scientist and AI Engineer. Furthermore, we will discuss the concept of atomic delivery teams and how these can be structured effectively in AI projects.
By examining various project categories, we will illustrate futher specialization opportunities available to AI engineers.
