## Join us for the #seventh Rhein-Neckar AI & Data Hub Meetup!

### Edition #7: Making Data Systems Understandable and Scalable

Modern data and AI systems are becoming more powerful and more complex. As architectures grow and use cases multiply, transparency, reliability and scalability turn into critical success factors.
In this edition of the Rhein-Neckar AI & Data Hub, we’ll explore two complementary perspectives:

  • how data observability helps teams understand what’s happening in their data pipelines
  • how self-service data platforms can grow from initial use cases into organization-wide ecosystems.

📍 Location:
HMS Analytical Software GmbH, Grüne Meile 29, Heidelberg
📅 Date & Time:
February 26, 2026 | 6:00 pm
🕕 The talks start at 6:30 pm
🍕 From 8 pm onward: Wraps & networking

### Our Speakers

### 👉 Sarin Ravishanker, Senior Data Engineer @Forto

Talk: Data Observability — Making Data Reliable, Visible, and Trustworthy
As data and AI systems become more interconnected, understanding what is actually happening to data gets harder. Dashboards may look fine and pipelines may keep running — yet changes, delays, or unexpected behavior often go unnoticed until decisions or downstream systems are affected.
This talk introduces data observability as a practical approach to making modern data systems more transparent and understandable. Using simple mental models and real-world examples, Sarin will explore:

  • How data flows, changes, and behaves over time
  • Common failure scenarios in analytics and AI systems
  • Why traditional monitoring and data quality checks fall short
  • How observability helps teams detect and investigate issues early

Designed for a mixed audience of data professionals, students, and non-technical participants, this session makes data observability approachable and actionable. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of what data observability is, how it differs from traditional data quality approaches, and why it is becoming essential for modern data and AI systems.

### 👉 Fabian Stadler, Software Engineer @HMS

Talk: From Use Cases to Platform: Building a Snowflake-Powered Self-Service Data Ecosystem
In this talk, we share insights from a client project where a set of initial Snowflake use cases evolved into a scalable self-service data platform.
Fabian will walk through:

  • Key architectural decisions and design principles
  • Challenges encountered along the way
  • Iterative steps from isolated workloads to an integrated ecosystem
  • Lessons learned and how the platform continues to grow

The session provides a practical look at how organizations can move beyond single use cases and build data platforms that are adopted and used across teams.
