Climbing Pocasset Ridge

Details

*Pre-registration on this MeetUp event is required for ALL attendees.

Join the Tiverton Open Space Commission for a vigorous hike exploring deep woods in the Pocasset Ridge Conservation Area of Tiverton. From cardinal flowers in the lowlands to viewing treetops from the ridge, this walk offers many interesting features.

The preserve's 600 plus acres of forest was protected by the joint efforts of The Nature Conservancy, Tiverton Open Space Commission, and Tiverton Land Trust. We’ll stroll through a delightful wetland, make the climb to oak barrens on rocky highlands, explore a rich basin of towering oaks, then proceed on to the “cliff” overlooking a sheer, ninety-foot drop above a red maple-yellow birch swamp. Participants must be prepared for rugged trails, a bit of a climb, and a totally invigorating experience in East Bay’s wildest forest.

All participants must wear a face covering. Be sure to wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes and bring bug spray. This event is FREE. This hike is inappropriate for those under age 10, and dogs are not permitted in the preserve.

Severe weather will cancel this event. Updates regarding weather will be posted to this Meetup event.

*NOTE: This event will be limited to 15 attendees to allow for adequate distancing during the walk. All attendees (including guests - limit 2) must be pre-registered on this MeetUp event.

Questions? Send us a message here on Meetup.

Directions to the trailhead will be sent out to everyone who has registered on MeetUp prior to the event date.
