***Hike Description***

This hiking route brings us through Douglas State Forest in Massachusetts. This includes hiking to the Tri-State Marker and part of the Midstate Trail. We will start at Wallum Lake in Douglas, MA.

This hike has a good variety of terrain. There are single-track woodland trails, old forest roads, and a rail trail. Much of it is rolling hills, with one steep section climbing from the rail trail to the Tri-State Marker..

**Bring water (1.5-liter min required)** and snacks along on the hike.

*Directions from Providence:*

Take Rte 146 North to Exit # 3, Rte 16. Turn left onto Rte 16 West.
Take Rte 16 West through Douglas center, towards Sutton/Webster.
At the junction of Routes 16 & 96, turn right on Rte 16 and continue for \~1.5 miles
Turn left onto Cedar St and continue to a stop sign.
Go straight through the stop sign (after stopping!!) onto Wallum Lake Rd.
The park entrance road is \~1 mile on your right. This is Wallum Lake Park Road.

***Important:***
Go straight along the park road until you reach the entrance booth. Bear left and park in the lot at the *boat* *launch*. The supplied address is for the park entrance road.
