TNC Video: Trail Repairs at Tillinghast Pond

Details

At Tony V's invitation, we're kicking off a series of short nature videos (approx 90 seconds) from The Nature Conservancy, featuring the trails and beautiful conserved lands of Rhode Island. I'll share a new one every couple weeks or so. Please note, this is a video post. I set a date and time so that it will expire from the Meetup page in a few days. If you have feedback, questions, or suggestions, I'd love to hear from you. Best, Tim (tmooney@tnc.org)

Schneider Electric’s annual “Day of Impact” is one of my favorite days of the year.

Ten or more volunteers arrive at a TNC preserve, ready to tackle our most pressing trail project. After a quick tailgate breakfast of coffee and donuts, they pick up their toolbelts and go right to work.

This year, Schneider Electric returned to Tillinghast Pond in West Greenwich and replaced a worn, 150-foot-long boardwalk on the Pond Loop, one of TNC’s most popular trails in Rhode Island. They not only rebuilt the structure but also improved the design. The new boardwalk is 12 inches wider, making the trail a little easier for visitors with balance challenges.

TNC preserve manager Jeanne Cooper shares her reflections on the day, and Schneider Electric’s Brad Hammond adds his perspective on the long-time partnership in this short video.

Thank you,
