Details

***EDIT: Please note the correct date for this MeetUp is Wednesday, 8/27)

It wouldn't be an RI summer without a trip to the beach, and what better beach than a Pasta Beach?

Therefore...

Our next Foodie Friends dinner will be held at Pasta Beach (195 Wayland Ave in Providence) on Wednesday, August 27th at 6PM.

Menu available here.

Open to all who are fun, friendly, house-broken, and interested in eating food.

If you're new to the group, we are a growing gathering of friendly former strangers who gather at restaurants throughout RI for a good meal and a hopefully good conversation. Some of us have lived here for years, and some are more recent arrivals, but all of us are looking to have a good time and meet interesting folks. If you're new in town, or if you're looking to meet new people, or if you're friendly and just want an excuse to eat well on a Wednesday, this is your chance!

It figures to be a fun and flavorful night. The RSVP process is admittedly cumbersome, but selfish behavior by a few former members have made it necessary to implement stricter protocols in order to preserve our relationships with restaurants.

Please read below and RSVP if you're interested.

Hope to see you there!

~ Colin

***Housekeeping, RSVP Policy, and Communication 101***

This is a sit-down dinner and I reserve the tables under my own name.
If we commit to a certain number of seats and don't fill them all because someone in in our group is a no-show, the restaurant loses money and I get a black eye with that restaurant.

The restaurant may forgive you.
I will not.

RSVPs are a must, and you must update your RSVP if your plans change.

No-shows, ghosts, and non-communicators will not be invited to future dinners.

When you RSVP on MeetUp, you will be asked to text me (Colin) at 401-595-7336. Your contact info will not be stored or shared with others. After the RSVP window closes, I will contact you on the Monday before our dinner to confirm your attendance/headcount or to offer your spot to someone on the waitlist if you can no longer attend. I get that this process is cumbersome and stilted/formal, or that you may not be thrilled about giving your phone number to a stranger, but we've already been burned a few times by some selfish former members and we've had to make a stricter attendance policy to protect our reputation with the restaurants we visit. I don't like it any more than you do but that's life: the ultimate group project!

Who may attend? That's easy. Nobody, unless they RSVP!

But more specifically:

Newcomers are welcome!
Solo diners are also welcome (we get asked that a lot), as are non-solo diners.

Guests are welcome and encouraged, although they should be reflected in your headcount when you RSVP. Seating is capped at 8 diners for this event.

For those bringing guests: we want you to feel comfortable in this environment, but we do ask that you and any guests make an honest effort to engage with others at the table and not just have your own separate dinner party while we watch (or have our own). The goal of these dinners is to build bigger tables.

We've been doing this for nearly 8 months now, and it's been a great (and tasty) way to meet wonderful people. We look forward to meeting you at a dinner!
