Code for America (Detroit Brigade) - "The Hall of Civic Apps" - showcasing some CFA apps created locally and nationally. This will be held exhibition style. The idea is to raise the public's awareness of existing apps they can use in their community.
Ribbon Farm (makerspace) - "Working with Civic Data" - We've invited a number of folks that are working with civic data around town to put together workshop style presentations. 10 minutes to review the dataset (source, content, layout) and 10 minutes to walk through a short code snippet.
"Pain Pitch: Government Edition" - We put out an open call for "pain" submissions and then select the most "interesting" pains. The selected submitters then give a short pitch to a room of engineers, developers, and designers who are looking for new problems to solve. Our goal is to help startups form around a real-world problem and to introduce them to their first customer.
For this edition we've gotten submissions from a variety of City of Detroit departments and neighborhood groups. We suspect a few quasi-governmental entities will also submit in the next few weeks.
Detroit Startup Drinks - "NDoCH Afterparty" - A monthly gathering of the tech community, the June event will be immediately after the events at the YMCA. Tagline - "No speaker, No agenda, Just technology".
