Walking Around or Walking Through: A Contemplative Wandering

Details
Come join the men of Ohio Illuman for a wandering at Caesar Creek State Park... Our lives are full of decisions. Sometimes we have to go through something; while other times we can go around it. During this year’s wandering, we will reflect on poetic scripture and wisdom writings from Lao-Tzu, Rainer Maria Rilke, and The Bhagavad Gita. As we walk up the hills, across the fields, and along the lake we will journey deeper into our own lives.
The heart of this experience is a solo walking trip into the forests, grasslands, and riverside paths of one of Ohio's most beautiful state parks. We will start our day with the sharing of a short collection of wisdom writings put together by our member Ray Geers. The writing will frame the invitation of the experience to walk around or through the many opportunities and obstacles that lie ahead. Taking the time to be in creation is life-giving, calming, inspirational, and instructive. We will immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of Caesar Creek State Park as we contemplate our lives and the world.
Don’t forget to bring a chair and to pack a lunch for our circle following the wandering!
