"Blockchain" is a word you have probably started hearing regularly. If you've wondered what all the hype is about and how useful it actually is... join us in hearing from startups at the cutting edge of this technology.

This September we have the following two talks:

  • James Bennett, Co-Founder and CEO of BITASSIST - The Economics of blockchains: Using on-chain data to value bitcoin

The architecture of public blockchains provides us with the unique opportunity to observe usage trends, investor behaviour and utility generated over these decentralised networks. In this talk James will cover bitcoin's usage and discuss how we can use this data to identify the fundamental value of bitcoin and other crypto-assets.

With a background in Corporate Finance and Asset Management, James moved into the Crypto-asset space at the start of 2017 and founded Bitassist - a Crypto-asset research and advisory. James was an invited expert at the world's largest blockchain hackathon and has been published in BraveNewCoin, Euromoney and Altfi financial news.

  • Adam Whyte, Founder of EDGE - Get the Edge: Blockchain and Smart Contracts in Esports and Gaming

Esports has a big issue with the non payment of prize money and poorly drafted contracts. Edge is a new platform that uses LAML to dynamically create contracts whose terms are used to programme smart contracts to automate the payment of prize money in esports.

Adam Whyte, LL.M. MSc., is a former sports lawyer, esports agent, founder of grassroots esports organisation, LDN UTD, and the founder of Edge, a platform that connects gamers to teams and brands using digital smart contracts. Edge was born from Adam's frustration at the amount of gamers that had contacted him because they hadn't been paid by their organisations & sponsors or hadn't received their prize money from tournament organisers. Edge's team has more than 30 years gaming, 20 years tech and 10 years legal experience and as such are unique positioned to solve esports' biggest pain: professionalism.

I am really looking forward to both of these talks. It will be great to see everyone there. As usual we'll be having some networking drinks after the talks.

The meetup will be at One Kew Road, on the first floor. We will start at 6:30pm with the first talk at 6:45pm.
