Tabletop RPG Day at the Mechanicsville Library (Fabula Ultima)

Details
Are you an old grognard who knows your THACO from your BAB and your Gith from Giff? Are you a new player who didn't know what any of those words meant?
You're both invited for Tabletop Gaming Day at the Mechanicsville Branch Library Saturday September 2nd from 10 AM - 2 PM! It's our monthly TTRPG group where we gather to teach new folks the basics, play one shots in various systems and eventually spin off into some longer campaigns.
For our new folks: Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs) are games that combine imaginative character driven storytelling with challenges decided through rules and random chance (dice, cards etc.). Each player will take on the role of a specific character and decide how that character acts in response to challenges and situations laid out by a Storyteller. Dungeons and Dragons is one of the most well known TTRPGs, appearing in media like Stranger Things, Critical Role, Big Bang Theory and more.
We'll jump into some D&D and other fun new systems with other styles and genres like Monster of the Week, Scum and Villainy, Dread and more.
Taking part in TTRPGs will require reading proficiency, a good attitude and an attention span that can handle 3-4 hours on the same activity. Teens and up are welcome.
No materials are required though it is recommended to check in with our group leader for ground rules and additional info in advance. You can reach out at [Colbywhittaker@gmail.com](mailto:Colbywhittaker@gmail.com)
This month we're playing Fabula Ultima, an Ennie award winning TTRPG inspired by great JRPGs like Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger. If you want to bring your own dice it uses a d6 -> d20 set. You can check out the Press Start intro to the game for free online to get a feel for it. Pre-gens will be available. If you want to make your own character please reach out to me ahead of time.
