"New team? No Problem! Turning new/junior data scientists and engineers into a cohesive team"
Ever been “assigned” to mentor or train early career co-workers? Starting a data team from scratch? Need to transform a ragtag group into a lean, mean data analytics machine?
These situations happen way more often than we’d like to admit and can turn into a huge time commitment/effort, if not a complete and unavoidable headache week after week. During this talk, we’ll discuss plans and methodologies to leverage the strengths of early career team members, task and build junior co-worker’s skills through focused technical mentoring, and create a dream data team that thoroughly and consistently outputs impactful, meaningful work.
This talk will pull and present ideas from general management/mentoring theory while staying narrowly scoped on the unique traits and quirks of a data analytics team. You’ll walk away with strategies and turn-key approaches that can be implemented the next day to get your team on the right track to success!
Our Speaker:
Willem Craun has 6 years experience as a data scientist and has led many data driven project teams at the Navy’s NSWC Dahlgren. During his time with the federal government, he attended countless workshops and classes on team management, leadership, coding languages, programing methodologies, data analytics methodologies and communication. He pulls the content of this talk from his experience working with barebones resources, limited everchanging/rotating personnel and sudden projects with ASAP deadlines.
