Abstract - The world of cryptography is often esoteric and well ... cryptic to most. Luckily as the typical software developer’s security toolbox has grown, the underlaying technological firepower has become more approachable. This talk will first give a survey of the intersection between theory and practical usage, along with common patterns used across the industry. Next we will go into detail on the greater SHA family, focussing on the elegant beauty and simplicity of SHA3 (the Keccak family). There will be math.

Bio - Tyler is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and currently works as a Software Engineer at Ippon Technologies as a Java engineer. Tyler’s interests lie in cryptography, algorithms, and joining the gap between computational logic and the real world. A favorite past time includes coming up with creative slack status.
