Richmond Live Social Group

Richmond Live Social Group is an online group that gathers at Richmond Live, a nightclub located in downtown Richmond. Our group is unique, because we host MOST of our meetups in the club itself.

Plans for outdoor gatherings and remote locations can be made by members who help to organize them, but for now, we primarily focus on events produced at or by Richmond Live.

Richmond Live is owned by DJ Freedom, who is also the founder of this meetup group. Activities for this group will be shared on our Instagram page "Richmond Live VA," as well as our Facebook page, "Richmond Live." We have no interest in a Facebook group at this time.

Our group is an ACTIVE group, which means ALL of its members must participate. If you do not plan to attend at least one meetup per month, it will not make sense to join our group. If you join and can help organize a meetup, please do! We do not discriminate against anyone here, and our group is an diverse as the city of Richmond.

Freedom is a DJ, roller skater and entrepreneur from New York City, but plans to keep the focus of this group on the interests of Richmond residents, or members of the group who would like to attend events at Richmond Live.

ABOUT RICHMOND LIVE: It is a 16,000 square foot nightclub. There are four floors/stories, and we can host up to three events at once, due to 3 of the floors being completely separate. On our lowest level is where most of our events happen (about a 200 guest capaicty). We have a DJ booth, sound and light system that sounds and looks amazing, a full bar, plenty of VIP areas and a small staging area, as well as a few bathrooms.

Our main level houses a stage for live shows, our fully equipped and soon to be open full time kitchen (we will announce the details in a future revision of this group description AND in our meetups). There are bathrooms on the main level, as well as plenty of VIP areas and a full bar. We are adding restaurant decor (more seating) after Columbus Day Weekend. There will also be a projector set up for visual presentations, movie nights, big sporting events (like pay per view) and more. The main room can host over 300 guests standing, or half as many seated.

There is a mezzanine that overlooks the main floor. It has a full bar, bathrooms and what could be a DJ booth or area for live performances, although we will likely only use this space for celebrity DJs. There are VIP booths in the mezzanine, as well as seating and space for dancing and/or socializing. A dressing room with additional bathrooms is available for when we host celebrity DJs, artists or for private bookings and fashion shows. The mezzanine can host about 150 guests standing, or about 100 seated.

On our third floor-the only one presently closed-will be the home to a small roller rink we are calling "Skate Boutique of Richmond" (a New York City version of this currently exists as a pop-up). We are installing a new skate floor, renovating the entire floor and will offer skate rentals, a S.T.E.M. program for children and host both private and public events there. It is over 2,500 square feet and can host about 100 skaters, over 250 dancers or 300 standing, and about 150 seated. There is a small stage on the third floor, a DJ booth, bathrooms and a full bar.

All of our members who are active for three consistent months will gain access to discounts for private bookings, but any member can host a meetup, provided of course we have space and/or dates available.

This can't be stressed enough: EVERY MEMBER MUST BE ACTIVE. Do not join us if you are not going to be active. Meetup had a really bad reputation of bots infiltrating groups and signing up for events, but would obviously not show because they weren't real people! Members participate with their presence, enthusiasm, by bringing friends/colleagues/family members, and by hosting meetups. Richmond Live is a big nightclub that will be so much more than just a typical nightclub. AND, we ARE members of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Roller Skating Association through our 3rd Floor roller rink, Skate Boutique of Richmond.

Final thoughts. This group only has life when it's members participate. Our group is unique because it is housed in a dedicated building. Members of this group should think of this amazing space as their own, and bring their excitement, enthusiasm and creative input-or just their positive vibes-and let's celebrate life together!
