Richmond New Tech - AI Augmented Decisions by Mike Baxter

Details
Dear fellow Richmond New Techers,
hope you all well
for our upcoming Feb 19th 7 pm session , we have a world's first - Mike Baxter will give the first ever preview of his new book that is due out at the end of March, called AI Augmented Decisions: A Practical Guide.
Its key message is that current consumer AI technologies (such as ChaptGPT, Deepseek, Claude and Gemini) are mature enough and capable enough to be hugely useful in organisational decision making. Not to make the decisions themselves but to help humans make better, faster, smarter decisions. In his talk he will present key aspects of best practice in making high-impact, high complexity decisions and will then share his learnings about how best to enlist the help of different Generative AI platforms to augment a variety of aspects of that decision-making. Along the way he will also share some recent research that helps lift the lid on just how software designed to complete the next word in a sentence manages to display such apparent mastery of complex business challenges.
Mike Baxter is Founder and Director of GoalAtlas.com, where he is an author, researcher and consultant on strategy. He has been studying AI for over 30 years and has been a professional consumer of AI for the past 10 years. Originally trained as a psychologist, Mike studied with Margaret Boden (pioneering AI researcher) and Mike Land (neural control systems researcher) at Sussex University. More recently, he has been an Advisor to Peerius and Ometria (both top-ten fastest growing tech startups in UK), both of which used AI in their marketing technology products for retailers. Over the past three years he has been a committed user of Generative AI platforms for his own academic research, business analysis, artwork creation and writing support.
