Time 4:30pm CT, 5:30pm ET

NOTE: It is rainy this morning, but it is supposed to be clear by the time of the hike. Even if it isn't clear in the afternoon, I won't cancel the event for the possibility of light rain.

We did a similar hike earlier this summer, stopping at the creek. This time I'd like to go further.

We'll start with a 10-15 minute hike through the woods over the dune. The trail ends on a dramatic sand cliff overlooking the beach.

Then we'll walk for 1/2 a mile on the beach sand towards the creek, with dunes on one side and the lake on the other.

Weather and water are constantly re-shaping the creek, but it shouldn't be more than knee-deep. We'll cross and continue on to Central Beach, stopping where the beach ends at Beverly Shores.

Then we turn around and go back. By the time we near the end, the sun should be starting to go down, and we can enjoy that view.

Total distance traveled is 3.5 miles, but it is mostly over loose sand, so will feel like more.

Difficulty
This is a medium difficulty hike, because there is a creek to cross, but mostly from walking on the loose beach sand. If you are prefer an easier experience, you can just stop and hang out on the beach, or turn around at any point-- you can't get lost, the only branching trail is blocked off.

Starting Location
We'll gather by the wall of sand near the parking lot.
101 Rice St, Michigan City, IN 46360

It is just a few minutes west of Michigan City on Beverly Drive, near the power plant.
