Walk to and Afternoon at Derby Creek Beach

Details
dear friends--
our disappointingly cool April is inspiring me to think ahead, and dream of summer days at the beach.
by June 14 we should have a reasonable chance of a decent beach day, so i'm going to schedule an afternoon at Derby Creek Beach in Beverly Shores.
the Achilles Heel of National Park summer beach outings is parking, but we can park at my house and take a 15 minute walk to the shore. i can even drive our gear down there, because i have a permit to park in a Beverly Shores lot, and i can meet you after walking through some pleasant streets and a short wooded trail.
i can probably put together about 15-20 parking spaces, but i may ask people to re-confirm attendance closer to the date. i'm setting attendance at 15 right now to be conservative about parking, but sign up anyway if we're full up because there will be a waitlist.
... so looking forward to seeing you there for fun and sun together in the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer,
Rick
... more details will follow.
directions & parking instructions:
avoid the intersection of IN 49 & US 12 because of summer traffic jams; take IN 49 north to US 20; go east; turn left on CR 300 E (Kemil rd), then right on US 12, then left onto Broadway (traffic light opposite National Park campground); continue about 3/4 mile, and turn left at Marne, go to 11 w Marne--a gray, three story house set back rather far from the road; street parking is not allowed in Beverly Shores, but you can park in the off-street spaces across the road from us, or in front of our neighbor to the east (towards Broadway); pull straight into the spaces and park as close together as you safely can; DO NOT block anyone in!
do not park in my driveway unless i tell you to. do not block the driveway of my neighbor across the street.
once you have parked, come to my front porch and take one of the parking permits there. put it in your car window facing the road.
if all spaces are taken, call me at 773-415-0428.
we will wait till 11:30, then depart for the beach on foot.
