Lunch at Joe and Freddy's

we're still eating at Joe & Freddy's, but the apres hike has been cancelled because of extreme cold weather.

the Town of Pines is on Central Time, just like Chicago. we will meet 10:50 AM CST, 11:50 AM EST (Michigan time). that way we will be ready to be seated at 11:00 when they open.

considering the expected weather, we can sit in our cars till we see the doors opening, then meet inside.

i scheduled this event for their lunch opening time at 11:00. i think that is the best strategy for a situation where we won't be sure exactly how many people will be coming, and sometimes people are late. it also makes it easier to get separate checks, because they usually aren't too busy yet.

i recently joined another community building group called Meet5. i've invited a few people i've met online there to today's event. please greet them warmly like you would any other new person who comes into our group.

to recognize me if we haven't met, i will be wearing a faded blue hat that says "GREECE" on it.

after passing by for years, we've recently discovered Joe and Freddy's, https://www.joeandfreddys.com/ , an unassuming place on route 12 in the Town of Pines, owned and run by noted local chef Nicole Bissonette, of the Miller Bakery Cafe, the Fish Camp, and other noteworthy eateries past and present.

we had several lunches there last summer, and i'm planning another now. join us, and prepare to be impressed!

to make things run more smoothly, please have enough cash to pay the bill: some restaurants don't like splitting up credit card charges, and with a group this size, we likely will not be able to get separate checks.

we try to get separate checks when possible, but if not, just figure what your order cost (don't forget beverages, desserts, and your share of appetizers), add about another 30% of your total for tax and tip, and contribute it to the pot.

If you have a coupon you’d like to use at this or any other meal, please check with me first. If I have a coupon for the whole group to use, and there is a limit of one per table, the group coupon will take priority. If not, feel free to use yours.

if you have symptoms of, or have recently tested positive for Covid-19 (or any other contagious disease), please DO NOT ATTEND.
