Hike at Kenneth Dubuque Memorial State Forest

Details
This will be a dog-friendly Saturday hike at the Kenneth Dubuque Memorial State Forest in Hawley. We will start at the trailhead parking lot (where there is room for plenty of cars) next to the Hawley Fire Station, off Plainfield Road. We will then walk on Kiln Road for a visit to the fascinating and historic beehive charcoal kiln. We will then continue further down the road until we reach the Snowshoe and Notch Trails, passing through mixed hardwood forest over rugged terrain. This is one of the nicer, well-marked hikes in this 7,882-acre state forest that includes 35 miles of mixed use trails (hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing).
This hike will be about 4.5 miles in length and moderate in difficulty. Bring suitable clothing and footwear, a snack, and plenty of water.
