FILM: Killers of the Flower Moon (AMC UTC)

Details

FILM EVENT: "Killers of the Flower Moon"
Director: Martin Scorsese
Screenwriter(s): Eric Roth, Martin Scorsese (David Grann)
Movie Trailer: https://youtu.be/EP34Yoxs3FQ

Come join us on Sunday afternoon for a screening and post-show discussion of Martin Scorsese's new film, "Killers of the Flower Moon." Based on David Grann's best-selling book of the same name, the film is set in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror.

Rotten Tomatoes' Critics Consensus: Enormous in runtime, theme, and achievement, "Killers of the Flower Moon" is a sobering appraisal of America's relationship with Indigenous peoples and yet another artistic zenith for Martin Scorsese and his collaborators.

LOCATION & TIME:
AMC UTC 14 lobby bar on Sunday (11/12) at 11:50am.

We are planning to go to the Sunday 12p screening of "Killers of the Flower Moon." Because of the film's unusually long run time, this was the only showtime we could squeeze in on Sunday.

For convenience, this link should take you to the ticket page (https://www.amctheatres.com/showtimes/all/2023-11-12/amc-utc-14/all/116391527), but please double check the theater, date, and time before finalizing ticket purchase. If you'd like to sit together, choose a seat next to, or near, seat J12.

We'll plan to meet at the lobby bar at 11:50am and head in at 11:55am. If we miss you then, join us back at the lobby bar after the movie for our post-show chat.

If you park at UTC, I believe the theater validates your ticket for an additional hour (3hrs total), but keep in mind that the movie has 3.5hrs runt ime.

  • If you RSVP, you are expected to attend or update your attendance ASAP. No-shows will be removed from the group.
  • If you can’t commit to the event, don’t RSVP. Let members on the waiting list join the event.

COMMUNITY & DISCUSSION:

Let’s celebrate film and learn about filmmaking together.

As an opener to discussion, share what you really enjoyed about the film. What did you find remarkable, and how did the filmmakers make it so?

Conversely, what might you have done differently if you had been the filmmaker? If something didn’t quite work for you, imagine if you're in the writers room, and pitch an idea for a different approach. If you had some issues with the movie, you should still appreciate that the filmmakers poured their lives into the project.

Let’s be specific in our answers, avoid nonconstructive absolutes, and welcome all ideas (especially if they differ from your own).

COVID-19 safety measures

Event will be indoors
Depending on your personal preference, you may wish to have a mask on hand when indoors. Strictly optional.
The event host is instituting the above safety measures for this event. Meetup is not responsible for ensuring, and will not independently verify, that these precautions are followed.
