NEW FORMAT - As discussed at last months meeting, attendance had dropped of significantly following Covid from the preCOVID era of 8 to 23, average in the 6 to 9 category to of late 3 to 6, significantly reducing our outreach to writers and our ability to draw good meet programming and guests. Therefore, in late 2022 we rolled River Valley Writers into backpack's media concepts and thus will be 100% online.

2023 Kick Off !!

To "Kick Off 2023" it seemed a good idea to have with us our . . .

Guest: Cynthia Mendenhall

. . . who was with us back at the beginning of 2020 (pre-jump start Covid) for our January meet speaking on the subject of Self Publishing with her book series Spunkier You, Spunkify Your Life, and her Growth Guide: Spunkify Your Life, where she shared with us her "My Journey & Lessons While Becoming an Indie Publisher." She has since sold gads of books, learned a lot about the publishing and marketing game, and more recently landed a book contract.

She will now share with us some "Trials" on the Trail of marketing and show us some ways to prevent rabbit trails, avoiding conflicts that hurt our writing experience, and hopefully encourage our group to grab the ball and Punt!

ZOOM PROTCOL

- We will use the Zoom App protocol with an invite link located on this page and once you indicate that you are attending, you'll receive an invite or you can just click the link on this page and follow the respective messages and emails to install the app or browser use.
- (NOTE: After the initial greeting or once the meeting starts, all audio will be turned off to avoid distractions from user-attendee background noise and will be turned on by the host when a request to speak has been initiated by a hand raise using the controls at the bottom of the Zoom window.

JOIN US FROM A LOCATION THAT PREFERABLY ISN'T NOISY. :-)

- Members or guests attendees will be welcomed.
- Meeting will begin promptly at 6.00p (18.00) and attendants audio will be muted (more below).
- End time may be extended beyond the end time but not long as we don't want to overextend the grace of our guest(s) and attendee(s)-audience
- Video will most likely be turned off for attendees and audience until recognized or called on
- Q & A will represent approximately the last 1/3 of the meet.
- Raise your hand or msg the host from the bottom of the Zoom control panel to be turned on.
- A time update will be given at intermittent points.

MEET RULES

1. Family friendly profile and thus foul language not permitted.
2. Dress appropriately with body skin covered please.
3. Family protocol relative to subject and content.
4. We reserve the right to prohibit or block anyone not willing to participate in a friendly rule abiding way.

February and March will include a Literary Agent and a Book Editor respectively.
