River Guide Training & Whitewater Rafting School!

Spend a week on the beautiful North Umpqua River in Southern Oregon and learn to Run Rivers with PDX Raft & Evolve Wild!

Dates: May 11–15, 2026

Location: Portland area & North Umpqua River, Oregon

Join us, with PDX Raft’s certified guide school for an immersive five-day guide training course in Oregon’s river canyons!

This whitewater rafting training blends classroom learning, camping, and hands on boat rigging with time spent on and by the water. We prepare you with everything you need to know to run your own adventures!
Learn river guiding basics, safety and rescue techniques, equipment care, and how to command a crew on rapids and calm flows alike.

Schedule:

🗓️ May 11-15: North Umpqua River — on-river training with experienced guides in one of Oregon’s most scenic river valleys

You’ll Learn:

  • River reading & rescue techniques
  • Paddle commands & crew coordination
  • Raft care & boat rigging
  • Rope systems, knots, and first aid
  • Camp setup and safety practices

- All rafting and safety gear

- 5 days of on water training

Tuition: $799
*Food for the week is additional $300.

No experience required — just be 18+, able to swim, and ready for a fun, physical week on the water. You'll get to take fellow guides down the river, and learn how to plan your own whitewater rafting trips. Begin to explore working in the witewater industry, and even guide boats on future RRM trips (when applicable)
