Every week at Riyadh English Book Club, our members meet to discuss a piece of literature that we are all reading - the description for this week's meet up is below.

## 📖 Current Read: Watchmen, Alan Moore

Over the next few weeks, we are taking a small deviation from pure prose and entering the - equally literary - world of the graphic novel. Specifically, we are diving into what has been widely regarded as the greatest graphic novel in the history of the medium. A layered, dark and unnervingly prescient story set in an alternative-history US at the height of the Cold War, Watchmen explores power, morality, surveillance, and the myth of the hero, through biting prose and clockwork-precise visual storytelling. Date: Saturday, 23 August at 10:30am
Reading Goal: Before the meetup, please read the first 4 'issues' (which is equivalent to the first 4 chapters if you are reading the collated book).
Location: Sol Olas KAFD

## 🔍Where to Find the Book

Copies of each issue are available online (if you do some googling, you will find the PDFs of all issues online - if you can't find them, please message me). Alternatively, you can buy the physical book which collates all the 'issues' into chapters.

## 💬 What to Expect

This is not a super structured event, but generally we’ll chat about:

• the book — parts of the story/ideas/characters/writing that we found interesting, meaningful, funny, thought-provoking etc. Also, aspects of the book that maybe we didn't like!
• books, literature, reading in general.

If you feel inclined, you can bring:

• specific passages you liked
• questions or discussion prompts
• suggestions for the next book
