Mapping in R: A very basic intro

In this workshop by Dr. Peggy Renwick, associate professor of Linguistics at UGA, she will demonstrate using R to plot data geographically onto a map, primarily via the map_data() function integrated into ggplot2. "One challenge with mapping is that the X and Y dimensions are consumed by latitude and longitude, so we have to think carefully about what we can communicate with other visual aspects. I’ll show two different case studies, both using spoken-language data, one focusing on the Southern USA and the other on Italy."
