R-Ladies Baltimore -- R packages for scraping data from the web

R-Ladies Baltimore (Bmore) is the local Baltimore chapter for the larger R-Ladies global organization (rladies.org) to promote gender diversity in the R community.

We will have an event on Wednesday January 23, 2019 from 5:30-7pm (location at Allovue (https://allovue.com)). We will learn about some wonderful R packages to scrape data from the web by walking through some vignettes and workflows. Margaret Taub will walk us through using the R package rvest to scrape data from the web into R. Then, Alex Stephens will demo using the rtweet package to collect and analyzing tweets! Chips and drinks will be provided!

• 5:50 PM Speakers (15 min talks with 5 mins for questions)
• 6:30 PM Discussion with audience on other useful R packages to scrape data from the web
• 6:45 PM Discussion on future events, Networking
