R-Ladies Baltimore -- Intro to data wrangling with palmerpenguins (in person!)
Details
R-Ladies Baltimore (Bmore) is kicking off an exciting series of meetups starting in Fall 2023! For those new to R-Ladies, R-Ladies Baltimore (Bmore) is the local Baltimore chapter for the larger R-Ladies global organization (rladies.org) to promote gender diversity in the R community.
Our first meetup this fall will be an in person event on Tuesday September 26, 2023 from 3-4:30pm (615 N. Wolfe Street, Room W2008). Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided. Stephanie Hicks will kick us off with an introduction to data wrangling using packages from the tidyverse with a fun dataset of penguins!
The plan is to be entirely in person (no zoom option) for this event, but we plan to have both types of events (either in person or entirely on zoom) throughout the year (just check the schedule).
WHO is this for?
- If you are new to R and want to learn about packages to wrangle messy data?
- If you know R, but want to expand your knowledge about tidyverse?
- If you think penguins are awesome, and need more penguins in your life!
If any/all of this is true, this event might be for you!

Q: Are men welcome to attend R-Ladies events?
A: Yes, men are welcome at this event. Our mission is to encourage more women and non-binary individuals to get involved in the R community. However, we ask that cis men come as guests of women and gender minorities to our events to promote a sense support and encouragement for women and gender minorities in the R community. Please help us by spreading the word about R-Ladies. Please also take the time to review our code of conduct before you attend: https://github.com/rladies/starter-kit/wiki/Code-of-Conduct
The term "women and gender minorities" is inclusive of individuals who identify as female (trans and cis), trans-men, non-binary, genderqueer, genderfluid, agender, intersex, and all minority genders).
