Caroline Akoth is a spatial data scientist and the director of operations and advocacy at Women in GIS Kenya (@WiGISKe on Twitter/ https://wigis.co.ke/). In this talk, she will be sharing their work on mapping gender-based violence in Kenya.
"Gender based violence in Kenya is a health indicator that investigates sexual or physical abuse of persons based on their gender.
SDG 5 on Gender Equality targets to have 0 % prevalence of GBV cases globally. Locally the national policy on prevention and response to GBV hopes to achieve 25 % Prevalence in the next year.
This presentation will look at reporting GBV prevalence in Kenya while highlighting notable trends in counties.
The aim of this project is to further look at how far the country is at achieving 25% Prevalence goal set by the national policy." - Caroline Akoth
