Lightning Talk Writing Workshop

Welcome to the R-Ladies New Year Resolution Series: Lightning Talk Writing Workshop!

A lightning talk is a very short presentation lasting only a few minutes given at a conference or similar forum. Lightning talks can be about absolutely anything. The art and practice of crafting these talks is great because it forces you to work on:

• Choosing a topic that you are passionate about enough to share AND realizing that you do have something interesting to say.

• Realizing that questions and challenges can be a good thing - you don't have to know all the answers!

• Developing clear and effective presentation design & fine tuning your verbal presentation skills.

At this Meetup, we'll cover what a lightning talk is and we'll brainstorm some ways to develop them. We will also discuss how to best format presentations in R, because this is, after all, an R-Ladies Meetup. :)

No need to come with an idea in mind, however if you would like to rehearse a lightning talk that you have been working on, we are an eager audience.

Of course, there will be pizza.
