Improving your coding practices in R
Details
TOPIC
Have you ever looked at a script you wrote two years ago and been totally clueless? Or do you hesitate to share your code with others out of fear that it's too cryptic? Come and join our best coding practices online event and learn how to make your code more readable!
Our speaker for this event is Arushi Garg. She is currently doing a PhD at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour at Radboud University (Nijmegen, The Netherlands). Prior to her PhD, Arushi worked in the software industry as a developer for three years, where she was required to follow rigorous coding standards. In this talk, she draws from her experience and will show us how we can employ such practices in science and make reproducibility and sharing a breeze.
PREPARATION
In order to get the most out of the meeting, we encourage you to upload a piece of your own code here: https://www.dropbox.com/request/WymCtIPcxZjsJcbPWqE2
Arushi can then tailor her examples to your needs. We emphasise that your code does not need to be perfect - if anything, the less perfect it is, the more you will learn from sharing it with Arushi! To also reassure you: if you code appears as an example in Arushi's talk, it will be anonymised.
ONLINE PROGRAMME
The event will be held online and will start at 14:00 (UK time). Please join us via this Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/92039823740?pwd=am5SVGFXYzRpWG1oUmhJUVM2YjlZdz09
