SPEAKER
This online workshop will be led by Dr Bodo Winter (https://bodowinter.com/). Bodo is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, UK, and the author of the leading R book "Statistics for Linguists: An Introduction Using R".

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
R used to be clunky, but then the tidyverse came along. This collection of packages forms a framework for doing data science that makes things so much more intuitive, and code so much more readable. In this tutorial, Bodo will give you a quick introduction about some of the core aspects of the tidyverse and how you can use it to efficiently do data carpentry. Most of this will be done via a hands-on session in R, so that we can put our knowledge to use right away. This workshop is open to beginners — everybody is welcome!

PREPARATION
All you need to bring to this workshop is RStudio with an up-to-date version of R that has the tidyverse installed, i.e., type in install.packages('tidyverse') in the console while being connected to the internet. It may be worth checking that installation was successful by loading the package: library(tidyverse). At the workshop, Bodo will distribute a dataset that we will work on.

ONLINE PROGRAMME
The workshop will be held online and will start at 17:00 (UK time). Please join us via this Zoom link:
