An introduction: Python for R Users

Details

SPEAKER:
Wanyin Li is a research student in Psycholinguistics and examines bilingual reading from the University of Birmingham.

TOPIC OVERVIEW
R is a language made by and for statisticians, whereas Python is a more general-purpose programming language. Regardless of the background, there will be times when a particular algorithm is implemented in one language and not the other; a feature is better documented.

This workshop helps you cross the R-Python language barrier. Learn about some of the most important data types and data structures in Python and how they compare to the ones in R. We will also cover control flow statements (if-else) for loops and shows you how to write your own functions in Python!

It will be friendly for Python beginners, but we expect you to have some background knowledge of R.

PREPARATION AND RESOURCES
