Session title: Workflow and Analysis of Political Network Data in R
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Abstract:
This brief presentation focuses on workflow priorities and analytical strategies for applying social network tools to political data. Using the example of a working project on political party networks, I show how one can gather campaign finance data and reshape it to construct relational networks between political actors. Using tidyverse packages for management, and network analysis packages, such as statnet and igraph for visualization, I talk about how to manage, visualize, and analyze political data as relations, rather than as individuals.
