"Journey through the tidyverse" with Dr. Che Smith

For the July 28 edition of our R-Ladies Dallas webinar series, we are excited to welcome Dr. Che Smith as our guest speaker. Dr. Smith will introduce the packages in the tidyverse!

Session title: Journey through the tidyverse

Abstract: In a (recent) former life, I taught Data Science and Statistics at Davidson College with R and RStudio as my primary tools. Join me as I reflect on the wins and challenges of using RStudio to teach R applied to data science and statistics, framed in topics related to social justice, inequity, and community.

Bio: Che Smith is a data enthusiast whose career has spanned several industries and specialties. She is currently a Senior Analytics Engineer at Netflix, helping to continuously improve content performance metrics for titles launching on the streaming service. Prior to Netflix, Che taught data science and statistics at Davidson College and also directed a consulting and tutoring lab for the college. By training, Che is a biostatistician, and spent several years working with state and local health departments on using data in innovative ways. A long time R user, Che’s favorite super-package is tidyverse, and she loves to find datasets to wrangle, visualize, and draw insights from.
